For the first anniversary of “Fashion magazine” – a festival and an exhibition

The 1st International Festival of Decorative and Applied Arts “Fairy Beads”
and the 2nd International Exhibition-Fair “Golden Hands of Masters”

 

Summer is over. For some, these are memories of unbearable heat and suffocating offices, for others – of downpours, hurricanes and floods, and for needlewomen and masters of various types of decorative and applied arts, it is certainly – of a wonderful holiday, meetings, positive emotions and new acquaintances. All this became possible thanks to the efforts and efforts of “Fashion magazine”, which on August 20-22, 2010, organized and held the 1st International Festival of Decorative and Applied Arts “Fairy Beads” and the 2nd International Exhibition-Fair “Golden Hands of Masters” at the International Exhibition Center.

In this unusual way, the magazine decided to celebrate its first anniversary – 5 years! Despite such a young age, the magazine has its audience in Ukraine, and since this year it has found its readers in the USA and Israel. There are no limits to creativity, and the magazine is happy to unite craftsmen of all countries and nationalities, to present talents to a wide audience.

The purpose of the Festival was the presentation and popularization of various types of needlework, the creation of a platform for communication between people who are passionate about creativity and needlework, for the exchange of experience between famous masters and designers, for the support of young novice masters, as well as the presentation of trends, trends and novelties to the general public needlework.

The Festival program included exhibitions of original works made in various techniques, a series of master classes by domestic and foreign masters, displays of clothing and jewelry collections, a benefit for competition participants, an entertainment program and a fair. About 4.5 thousand people visited the exhibition in three days. Among the visitors are entrepreneurs, teachers, doctors, students, bank employees, sellers, builders, managers, students, ordinary workers and representatives of many other professions. As you can see, the Festival was interesting not only to the masters of decorative and applied arts, but also to people of various professions, as well as of different ages, because there was a lot to see at the fair and the Festival. 52 companies engaged in the production and distribution of handicraft products and creative workshops were presented at the exhibition-fair. The visitors were presented with the products of the well-known companies VDV, FIMO in Ukraine, TK-Furnitura, Freudenberg Vlieseline, World of Handicrafts, “Super Gift, online stores Stylish thing, Art-biser, To yourself, beloved!, creative workshops and salons Glass on fire, Exclusive from Mila, Anna, Bijouland, Jewelry from semi-precious stones, Amber, Non-profit partnership Free craftsmen, Art-transit, workshop of Easter Egg painting by Oksana Bilous, design studio of Elena Izotova, leather products by Oksana Mailo, embroidered products and jewelry made of beads and natural stones by Maria Chulak, Oksana Chepiga, Mila Mogilkina, Valentina Halych, Iryna Bedokurova, Oksana Moroz, Tetiana Remenyuk, Rimma Hashitska, works by pupils of the circle Sonechko, an author’s doll by Maryna Zimina, a pottery workshop, art canvases by Mykola Moldavanov, etc.

During the Festival, the final of the international contest “Beading Exclusive” “Creative beads” was held, to which 33 masters from Ukraine, Latvia, Israel, USA, Russia, Belarus were invited. The audience admired the works of Vladyslav Yehlakov, Angelika Motzkin, Iryna Astratenko, Kateryna Stepnaya, Iryna Belinskaya, Anzhelika Susoenkova, Albina Polyanskaya, Lana May, Dale Cougar Armstrong, Olena Bugrymenko, and the works of the winners of the American contest “Bead Dreams-2010” Guzel Bakeeva, Olga Shumilova, Tatiana Van Iten.

The embassies of Lithuania, Bulgaria, and Azerbaijan took part in the work of the Festival, which presented hand-made national costumes made with the help of various traditional techniques of decorative and applied art. Here there was not only something to look at, but also something to learn.

A special place at the Festival was occupied by a series of master classes and presentations by domestic and foreign masters and teachers. Classes were held in specially equipped classrooms and on the main stage.

American craftsmen and designers Tatiana Van Iten (Hanover, USA) and Lana May (Phoenix, USA) held a series of workshops on making jewelry from beads, beads and stones. Designer, teacher Dale Cougar Armstrong (USA) held several master classes “Using wire and techniques for working with tools in making jewelry”, where she revealed the secrets of the unique author’s technique of making jewelry from wire without soldering to everyone.

A series of master classes on bead weaving took place:

  • “Manufacturing three-dimensional key rings” by master Vladyslav Yehlakov (Moscow, Russia);
  • “Making a pendant with a flower” by Anzhelika Susoenkova, a member of the International Association of Designers “Art-beads” (Chernihiv, Ukraine);
  • “Manufacturing of the “Lily” brooch by the designer, member of the International Association of Designers “Art-beads” Albina Polyanska (Kharkiv, Ukraine);
  • “Production of the element “Lily of water" and the use of this element in the manufacture of various jewelry" from the designer, President of the International Association of Designers “Art-beads’ Iryna Belinska (Moscow, Russia);
  • “Beaded knitwear, the basics of the technique of knitting with beads on knitting needles" by designer, member of the International Association of Designers “Art-beads” Svitlana Batsylova (Bratsk, Russia).

 

Everyone who wanted to could attend the master classes “Ghanutel. Equipping the warp thread on a spindle with wire” by master Natalia Balytska (Kyiv, Ukraine), “Dry felting” from the online store “Charivna skrinya”, “Bijouterie making techniques using wire” and “Bead weaving” by Oksana Moroz (Kyiv, Ukraine). , “Ankars. Techniques for making jewelry and accessories” by craftswoman Alla Vizyr (Dnipro, Ukraine), “Making a doll’s head from polymer plastic” by a folk artist, author’s doll maker Maryna Zimina (Kyiv, Ukraine), “Art-batik. Decorating clothes with free painting on fabric with acrylic paints” by teacher, editor of “Fashion magazine” Olena Vetrova (Kyiv, Ukraine). At the request of the American delegation, Iryna Godiatska (Kramatorsk, Ukraine) conducted the master class “Making laces on kashlyuks”. At the request of the participants of the competition, the guest of the Festival from Israel, Angelika Motzkin, conducted a master class “Techniques for making three-dimensional elements and combining them into a necklace."

Workshop “Glass on fire” (Alexandria, Ukraine) organized a demonstration of the production of “Lampwork” beads, which was conducted by Vadym Smolyaninov.

Tatyana Van Eyten presented new products and blitz consultation on the use of materials TOXO BEADS, MIYUKI BEADS & CRAFT, and designer and teacher Lana Mei presented products for making jewelry SOFT FLEKS COMPANY and conducted a blitz consultation on their use.

During the Festival, Tatyana Van Eyten presented her “Book of Inspiration" and held an autograph session.

During the entire work of the Festival, guests and participants were accompanied by a rich cultural and entertainment program. Everyone enjoyed the performance of the soloist of the Taras Shevchenko National Opera of Ukraine, the People’s Artist of Ukraine Iryna Dats, the ensemble of the Ukrainian song “Dibrova” of the Center for Culture and Arts of the Dnipro District of Kyiv under the direction of Yaroslav Petryk, the vocal “Eureka-studio” of the Center for Culture and Arts of the Dnipro District of Kyiv under the direction of Eric Vayda, singer and composer Mykola Sikora, Laureate of the “New Names of Ukraine” competition of the duo Yulia Vasyuk and Olga Grebenshchikova, the Kyiv show-ballet “Scarlet” under the direction of Tetyana Pidvysotska, the People’s Dance Theater “Renaissance” of the Kyiv City Palace of Veterans under the direction of the choreographer-director Lyudmila Grigorieva, circus studio “Charm” of the Center for Culture and Arts of the Dnipro district of Kyiv under the guidance of Iryna Tetereshchenko, pupils of the School of Ukrainian Dance from Canada.

During the Festival, pupils of the creative workshop “Inspiration” of the Kramatorsk School of Arts No. 3, under the guidance of the master of traditional folk art Rita Slepova, demonstrated their own collections of original “Kyiv Rus” clothes, which used pieces of birch bark, crocheted, decorated with beads and beads, and painted on fabric, crocheted laces and laces, and evening dresses using laces made on laces.

The show of the collection of evening and everyday jewelry by the masters of the International Association of Designers “Art-beads” by Iryna Belinskaya, Anzhelika Susoenkova, Albina Polyanskaya, Svitlana Batsylova, Iryna Stepnaya, Iryna Astratenko, as well as the collection of beaded evening jewelry by Dale Cougar Armstrong, Olena was met with thunderous applause. Bugrymenko, Albina Manning, Tatiana Van Iten, Lana May.

During the days of the Festival, the contest “Beading Exclusive” “Creativ beads” took place. Showcases with competitive works captured the eyes of visitors and participants of the exhibition. This year’s competition gathered a wonderful bouquet of masters from Ukraine, Latvia, Israel, USA, Russia, Belarus. Among the contestants were masters who have been engaged in bead weaving for 1.5 to 10 years. Regardless of beading experience, each master presented and showed his individual style.

The international jury faced a very difficult task, because it is not easy to evaluate creativity. After a long debate, the jury made its verdict: the Grand Prix of the competition was awarded to Svitlana Sametis (Riga, Latvia), who has been practicing this amazing art for only one and a half years. This once again emphasized the fact that it is never too late to start beadwork and conquer the peaks of this amazing and magical world. And we would like to thank all the members of the jury for their hard work – Iryna Belinska, Dell “Cougar" Armstrong, Tatyana Van Eyten, Lana May, Albina Polyanska, Angelica Susoenkova.

It is impossible not to mention the youngest participants of the competition – pupils of the Kherson Center of Extracurricular Activities of the Kherson City Council “Fairy Beas” and express gratitude to the head of the group, Hanna Kubarova. Three of her pupils – Oksana Drobko, Karolina Horbach and Darya Golubchenko won prizes in two nominations.

None of the visitors and participants of the exhibition were left indifferent by the performance of the participants of the contest “Bead Exclusive” “Creative beads”, which was organized and conducted by the participant of the competition Marina Dukhan (Minsk, Belarus). This small event, performed by the participants of the competition, at which the masters themselves demonstrated their works, will remain in the memory of both its participants and the audience for a long time.

The organizers of the Festival held a charity event for the support and development of young talents: for the demonstration of their works, pupils of the “Nest” orphanage from Ivankiv and students of the “Beading” studio of the National Children’s Library were provided with equipped exhibition spaces, and Lana May held a charity master class for them with beading
